The Clinical Psychology Postdoctoral Program at the Donaldson Wellness Center (DWC) is a one year postdoctoral position, beginning September 1st. Our goal is to provide advanced, well-rounded training to prepare clinicians for a career as a mental health professional.
DWC is located in Waxahachie, Texas. Waxahachie is a rural community south of Dallas. DWC services a variety of clients from diverse ethnicities, socioeconomic statuses, and clinical presentations.
The postdoctoral program at the Donaldson Wellness Center is a generalist training program, with emphasis on assessment. Residents will participate in the everyday work of a private practice, including therapy appointments, full battery assessments (3 anticipated weekly), supervision and peer consultation. While there is some degree of flexibility regarding training experiences with respect to each person’s areas of expertise and interest, postdoctoral residents are provided with clinical opportunities including individual therapy, play therapy, couples therapy and family work. Assessments, which constitute approximately 60-70% of the resident’s case load, include contract work for Social Security and rehabilitation programs, private learning disorder batteries, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder testing, neuropsychological exams, child custody evaluations and forensic examinations. Since postdoctoral residents work alongside trainees at differing stages of practice, including doctoral interns, practicum students, and bachelor's level interns, they have the unique opportunity to learn from their colleagues, as well as to proved mentorship and supervision. The weekly schedule includes one hour of individual supervision, as well as two hours of didactics which are APA compliant.
Unless the provider has a license, DWC cannot typically bill insurance for services provided by a resident. As such, the resident’s annual pay is percentage based. He/she receives 40% of the direct services provided.
The Donaldson Wellness Center’s (DWC) postdoctoral positions are filled from national recruitment. Qualified individuals interested in applying for our residency program should initiate the process by sending the following materials to Dr. Sara Lapacka at firstname.lastname@example.org between January 1st and March 1st.
Applicants will be notified by March 15th regarding their application status.
